Prayer
, 5'x9'x6', wood
and spray paints, 2003
Continuing the concept of a praying
figure that I first developed while working on Ascension,
I wanted to explore the relationship between space and sculpture. One
space is the surrounding that gets redefined once a sculpture is placed
there. But I alos wanted to look inside a sculpture and the way the
architecture defines volume. By executing this work, I not only got
to experiment with the interior and exterior spaces, but also the interaction
between the two. What happens when you are able to peer across and see
both a figure and the space beyond it.
